About

About us.

Super AI Safety provides AI governance and legal advisory services for organisations navigating the opportunities and responsibilities of artificial intelligence. Based in Sydney, we help businesses, professionals and decision-makers understand AI risk, establish practical safeguards and approach adoption with greater confidence.

Our work connects legal analysis with an informed understanding of AI technology. We focus on the questions organisations face when choosing systems, managing information, allocating responsibility and deciding where human oversight is essential.

Led by David Coleman

Super AI Safety is led by David Coleman, a New South Wales lawyer and Principal of Lawyers and Legal Services Sydney Pty Limited. David brings approximately two decades of legal experience, together with continuing study in artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematics and technology policy.

His interests span international law, emerging technologies, space law and the governance of increasingly autonomous systems. This interdisciplinary perspective informs an approach that considers both immediate business needs and the wider consequences of technological change.

David believes useful advice begins with understanding the client: what an organisation wants to achieve, how its systems operate, who may be affected and what resources are available to manage risk.

How We Help

We assist organisations with the legal and governance questions arising from developing, purchasing and using AI. Our services include reviewing AI-related contracts, advising on privacy and confidentiality risks, developing internal policies and establishing responsibilities for AI oversight.

We also help clients structure risk assessments, evaluate supplier information and prepare governance documentation. Where relevant, this work can draw on recognised frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, with the scope tailored to the organisation.

Training and briefings help boards, managers and staff understand their roles. The aim is to turn governance into everyday practice: clear rules, informed decisions, appropriate escalation and records that explain how risks have been considered.

Each engagement is scoped around the client’s needs, with clear deliverables and an explanation of where additional technical or specialist expertise may be required.

Our Approach

We are optimistic about AI’s potential to improve productivity, expand access to knowledge and support scientific progress. Realising those benefits requires careful attention to reliability, security, fairness and accountability.

Our approach is practical and proportionate. Different applications present different risks, and safeguards should reflect the context, the people affected and the consequences of failure. We explain uncertainty openly and distinguish established requirements from emerging policy, voluntary guidance and broader recommendations.

Alongside advisory services, Super AI Safety publishes accessible analysis of AI safety, governance and technological developments. Our educational work explores how advances in AI affect organisations, public institutions and society, while encouraging informed discussion about responsible development.
